Woebegone Freedive

Growing up on the South Coast, days were mainly spent in the ocean surfing and diving.

After finishing school we both embarked upon our Scuba Training, beginning with the Open Water Course in Bali, then the Advanced Course in Shellharbour. This was the start of our addiction with the underwater world. We undertook a two year Dive Master apprenticeship in Jervis Bay, before heading over to the Riviera Maya, Mexico, to undergo our Master Instructor Training at one of the most prestigious dive academies in the world. What was meant to be a five week trip turned into a two year working holiday, teaching Scuba Diving in Five Star Resorts in the beautiful Caribbean and diving with amazing creatures such as Bull Sharks and Whale Sharks.

It was here on an island called Cozumel that we discovered Freediving and consequently Yoga and Meditation. Upon, returning to Australia, Dylan travelled to Mount Gambier to undergo training as a Cave Diver where Freediving helped massively to calm his anxious mind. Tired of lugging around tonnes of equipment we took to the waters of Jervis Bay again, this time with the simplicity of a mask, snorkel and fins. We then ventured to Bali again to train at Adam Stern and Alexi Molchanov’s Freediving Bootcamp, Deep Week. Eight years of training led back to the simplicity of our teenage years and Woebegone Freedive was born.
